About the Founder – Prashant Kaul
Our trust was founded in 2024 by Prashant Kaul (aged 65) a leader in India’s power sector. After a 37-years career with NHPC Limited (A Premier PSU in Power sector in India) where he retired as Executive Director, Prashant brings a wealth of experience and expertise. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology and a Master’s in Business Administration in Finance from IMT, Ghaziabad. In his career in NHPC he became a leading authority on tariff setting, power purchase agreements, electricity laws and commercial matters of Hydro power development in India.
He has a wide experience in operation and maintenance of an underground Hydro power plant. He has presented about 17 technical papers in person in Africa, USA and Europe . He is the member of steering committee of Hydrovision International conference, USA. He is also a training faculty in Central board of Irrigation & Power and in NHPC. He loves sports especially badminton and ping pong and plays it too.
Behind the Trust The Inspiration
For 12 years, Prashant was based in the remote District of Himachal Pradesh known as Chamba. During this time, he became deeply familiar with the challenges facing young girls in the region. He saw first hand how talented and intelligent girls, full of potential, were forced to abandon their education. This was often due to their families poor economic conditions, outdated traditions, and a lack of encouragement for higher education. He witnessed many girls being married off at a very young age, cutting short their dreams.
Inspired by these experiences, Prashant was driven to act. He founded this trust to address these systemic issues head-on. By focusing on education and providing comprehensive support, the trusts vision is to empower these bright young women to realize their dreams and become leaders in their fields, ultimately contributing to a more progressive India.
